Amendment of the pricing regime of oil products inside the country
Correction of the energy pricing system is a key component of energy plans. The amendment is aimed at saving in energy consumption, making optimal use of oil products and export additional amounts for further income, and raise funds for the fundamental structures.
So far, the energy prices have been set on bargaining and on the goals envisioned in the annual budget bill. Meanwhile, the general studies of energy carrier prices have been predominantly designed to raise prices, and the expert studies have relatively failed to yield the expected result, because of the negligence of favorable policies and unfamiliarity with the issue.
The pricing of energy carriers is a complex process, for they are channeled into production systems as input and into non-manufacturing sectors as consumer goods, an issue which will affect both the macroeconomic and microeconomic sectors.
Therefore awareness of the pricing policies of other countries can help reach a rational framework matching the country's economic development structure and assist in the implementation of infrastructure plans.
The research has been drawn up in five chapters: subject literature; goals and different methods of the pricing methodology; a comparative study of the pricing systems of other countries with that of Iran; viewpoints of other institutions over the pricing activities; an assessment of the main energy products in Iran and other countries; a review of the components affecting the pricing system; expansion of the field of study to LNG and power; relation of the pricing regime with the
macro economy; prerequisites of the privatization of the supply of oil products; smuggling of oil products; environmental matters; pricing models; scientific solutions and practical policies for the drawing up of the national pricing strategies of oil products.
